Our rainforests need protection
The world's forests are under threat, and we must take action to protect them. Not only are they a vital source of air, water, food, shelter, and medicine, but they also play a critical role in mitigating climate change and preserving biodiversity. The importance of mature trees in particular cannot be overstated, as they absorb more carbon and provide essential habitats for countless species.

The importance of mature trees in particular cannot be overstated, as they absorb more carbon and provide essential habitats for countless species.
However, the situation is dire. Half of the global rainforests have already been lost in just one century, and at the current rate of deforestation, the remaining rainforests will disappear in just 100 years. The primary threats to rainforests are deforestation, illegal logging, mining, and the burning of trees to make space for agriculture, as well as other harmful activities.

Our rainforests need to be reforested
Deforestation is happening at an unprecedented speed and the impact on our planet is disastrous. While we have the power to restore nature's balance by responsibly planting new trees, current practices are not helpful. Large corporations have an obligation to replant forests that they have cut down, yet often they neglect to do so, and even when they do, they often plant only fast-growing trees in a monoculture that do not belong to the original ecosystem. This can lead to an imbalance in the ecosystem as other plants and animal species rely on a diverse range of habitats to survive. Moreover, fast-growing trees may not be well-suited for the local climate and soil conditions, leading to high rates of mortality.

The lack of diversity also increases the forest's vulnerability to pests and diseases that can spread quickly through monoculture plantations, causing further harm to the already fragile ecosystem. Additionally, fast-growing trees do not sequester as much carbon as the native trees they replace, which poses a problem when it comes to offsetting carbon emissions.
